Weekly notes
- HTTP/3 is everywhere but nowhere: Hyperscalers and browsers can do http3 but not a lot of open source servers have the protocol built in. There are also differences of opinion about how to proceed which has slowed down adoption.
- HTTP vs. HTTP/2 vs. HTTP/3: What’s the Difference?: Guide detailing advances in later http protocol versions. Http1 -> 2 seems like a big leap. Going to 3 is more efficient in certain scenarios but I’m unsure at this point whether it is as impactful a change.
- 7 Best Practices of File Upload With JavaScript: Nice list of things to consider for improving file uploads.
- When AI Thinks It Will Lose, It Sometimes Cheats, Study Finds: Weird behaviours observed in this trial. LLMs cheating and lying about motivations and what they did …
- A Disney Worker Downloaded an AI Tool. It Led to a Hack That Ruined His Life.: A virus was installed into a computer and gained access to a 1-password vault. I’ll have to think about this one.
- WHAT IS VIBE CODING? HOW CREATORS CAN BUILD SOFTWARE WITHOUT WRITING CODE: I had an unsettling experience with an ai chatbot yesterday at work. From a not-well-specified question it produced the answer I needed and wanted. What’s it going to be like working as an engineer in 5 years.
